Hey guys, I am a new 176S owner and will be filling my water tanks for the first time. Do I need to flush them ? Also, when i fill them does a hose just fit into the opening or do I need a particular hose fitting ?

Thx

I flushed my tank upon purchase and I also flush it before leaving on the first trip of the season. Maybe overkill but better to be safe. Good luck.

I just use a normal garden hose to fill up my tank.

Thx for that Guys. Kristopher, do you just shove the end of the hose in or do you have a particular fitting for it ?

Yes I kind of just shove it in the port and let it fill up. You do have to sit there and hold the hose.

I guess I should add that we don’t drink from the tap. We carry bottled water for drinking, coffee, & cooking. Only use tank/city water for washing dishes, shower, and toilet. I also add a bit of bleach to the tank if I fill it. Beginning of the season I fill tanks ( fresh, gray, and black) about half full of water and some bleach. Then go for a drive on a curvy road and then stop at a dump station near my house to empty the tanks. Probably overkill, as I tend to over think things!!

Jamie,

I also use one of these RV water filters as well.

Its just a carbon filter but it does wonders. Also when you hooked up to any water source you should be using one of these.

Awesome stuff people. I feel much better prepared to venture forth. It would be good if this forum had a ‘like’ button for each comment. Anyhow, definitely going to do the flush thing and will be buying a filter for the inlet.
