I thought I would share a couple of propane usage figures for our 177se.

30 day trip, 5000 miles: used hot water heater, refrigerator on gas during travel, heater nightly, cooked about half the time. Total usage, 5.3 gal.

14 day trip, 2500 miles: used hot water heater, refrigerator on gas during travel and 5 days straight, heater nightly, cooked 11 days. Total , 1.3 gal.

How do you measure usage?  I am still new to this and have no idea how much is left in my tanks, although your report is encouraging. Can you get a gauge that still fits inside the plastic cover?

First, make sure tanks are full. I keep track of what appliances we use and how long. At the end of the trip refill tanks and do the math.

I use the above guage (1 on each tank). Had to turn tanks a bit to get cover back on but it fits. There are a lot of different choices of gauges.

Some like above, some in quarter tank measurements, ect. I bought mine a Lowe’s on sale, less than $20 for both. Now my wife has a new job…monitoring the gauges!!!

Also, let me clarify my numbers… We used the furnace on both trips, however on the 30 day trip due to elevation (Yellowstone) it cycled more times.
