So glad I found this forum.  We have two vintage campers that we restored and a 2014 Little Guy Silver Shadow, and we love to travel to South Carolina and Georgia to camp with our group, Southern Vintage Trailer Friends.  Most of our group only travels 3-4 hours to the events, but for us it is usually around 1500 miles or more each trip.  We decided that it might be better to get a vintage-inspired camper to take on the long trips (so we actually get there!) and to use the vintage campers for close trips.  We saw the 176S at the Cleveland RV Show and both loved it.  Hope to learn a lot about the 176S on this forum.

Welcome to the forums!

How do you compare the retro styling of the white water retro compared to your true vintage retro campers?

The Riverside Retro 176 is the travel trailer most members on this forum have. Have you purchase your trailer yet? If so make sure to post pictures. I’ve walked into a 176S before and having the slide is a nice option that really opens the camper up.

Hi Cape!  Welcome aboard.  We lived in Canal Fulton, OH. for awhile and I worked in Akron with BF Goodrich.  We too like the Georgia Mountains.  North Georgia is very pretty.  Trails and waterfalls make it a very nice place to visit.  May God Grant you many fun and safe trips.

Hi Jim!  My sister used to live in Doyelstown and my husband teaches at Malone University so we know Canal Fulton well.  Thank you for the welcome!

Hi Kristopher!  I think the styling of the 176S is the closest to the styling of our vintage campers as we have found.  We looked at a lot of other “vintage-inspired” campers at the RV Show, and none of them compared.  They all had the modern inside walls and layouts and really only looked vintage on the outside.  As soon as we walked in and saw the birch walls and the front kitchen layout we were hooked.  I never thought I would want a slide-out, but the extra space is so nice and the dinette area seems so cozy.

We love our 68 and 69 Comanche campers, but we have already had a frame break on one trip…luckily on the way home!  Like the owner of the welding shop said, they are old girls and you are going to have to take it easy with them.

We haven’t purchased a 176S yet, because we wanted to get on a forum and learn about them first.  We will probably look for a used one in the next year or so.

This seems to be a great forum with super nice people…looking forward to learning a great deal.     Lisa
