Hello fellow campers…. We just got home for our first day of looking for our future home on wheels.  We set out looking at another manufacture… the salesman set our eyes on 189 or 199… I found this site and have enjoyed reading the comments.. we know there can be problems with any “Home” that is pulled at 65 miles per hour behind a moving vehicle… but it sounds like everyone is very happy with their “Homes”.  We have a Chevy 1/2 ton truck.. and don’t want to have to upgrade the truck. We liked the interior and space that the Retro has to offer… Question that we have is the pulling.. do you all find it to stay behind your tow vehicle… do you get much sway?  With the lighter weight of the tailor we have concerns of being blown around on the road.  We look forward to the travels that are ahead of us… Hope to see you all out on the road soon.. Thank You.

I am not an expert, but I use a F-150, half ton, eight cylinder pick up to pull a 195 and have no problems.  Good luck on your hunt.

We just brought our 189R home today, using a half ton Chevy with a V6. No problems. It was a good 2 hour haul from the dealer.

I pull a 177SE with no problems.  I do use an anti-sway bar but not a weight distribution hitch.  The anti-sway bar is only about $100 but it worth it on windy days out west for the peace of mind it gives us.  As to towing with the F150 – check the owners manual for max hitch weight and trailer weight.

We’re pulling a 265bh with a Silverado 1500 v8, with load equalizer hitch & anti-sway bar.  Have been on 3 trips covering about 2500 miles with no issues.

I pull a 177SE with a Toyota Sequoia, I found that installing sway and weight distribution, made for a smoother ride and greater peace of mind.

We’re towing a 176s with a GMC Acadia. We use a weight distributing hitch as well as a sway bar. She tows like a dream. We encountered some high winds driving through Bakersfield area and we had no issues at all.
