I’m in the market for a light 5th wheel camper. I recently discovered the Retro series. Our local dealer has a 526RL 5th wheel, and 4 or 5 different examples of the Retro travel trailers. The in stock one is a Pewter/Red that is too stand out for my wife. Thinking about maybe ordering or location a White/Aqua.
The 526, actually all of them, are beautiful inside. The first thing after stepping in the wife said is “I really like this”. The 525 is also about the lightest 5th wheel on the market. There is on glaring question, the quality.
The 526 has had a terrible calking job, mostly around the lights. The white U channel on the wheel opening isn’t evenly pressed on and sloppily caulked, or the opening wasn’t cut straight before it went on. All of this is are easy fixes but makes me wonder if there is any hidden sloppy work that could eventually cause big problems. The dealer sort of side stepped my questions only responding that the camper wouldn’t be prepped until it had a buyer. Didn’t find out if he was considered the caulking to be a prep item.
None of the Retro travel trailers there had the caulking issue. They seemed well done inside and out. I know the 526 is sort of new. I couldn’t tell if there are any 5th wheel owners in the forum. Maybe it’s just an early production one and my ordered White/Aqua could bet better, or worst.
