We’re new to the Retro world. We have a 2016 155 and love it, but we’ve scraped bottom a few times. We’re getting a 2.75″ factory lift kit for it, but think an extra inch or so might even be better. I was thinking of upping the 13″ wheels to 14″, but have heard that larger wheels and tires mean less towing power. Is this true? If I had a bigger tow vehicle I wouldn’t care, but we only have a NISSAN FRONTIER 4 CYLINDER WITH MANUAL. Getting a bigger rig is not an option financially. It does the job pretty good in most situations, but on long steep grades it is getting a pretty good workout running at around 3,500 rpm in 3rd and doing around 40-45 mph. I’ve had some troubles on steep hills when starting from a dead stop – either stalling it, or burning the clutch a little before I can get any headway.
If we go from a 13″ to a 14″ wheel will we lose a noticible amount of towing capacity?
Thanks in advance for any advise
