I just bought a used 2014 177SE. I need to know if my generator will power the A/C while boon docking. Thus I would like to know where I can find this information. Even better, if I could find an owners manual that covered all the appliances that would be great. Anyone know how to find the power consumption of the A/C and/or where I can find appliance manuals?

IMHO, I believe more information would be needed to solve your mystery. First, what size is your generator? There is a thread on generators elsewhere in this forum. Many of us have 2k generators. Some will start them, some won’t, some you have to start the fan first, then go to A/C mode. As far as your A/C unit, if you didn’t get any paperwork, you need to look at brand and model and do a google search. You can then download a manual. Or just plug in your Retro into your generator and see what happens! Good luck…

Yeah i tried to find a model #, serial, anything besides the name on the front panel to identify the air conditioner. No such luck. I too have a 2000 gennie so i guess my bet bet will be to try it. I was just worried about burning the unit up.

Again, start it on fan mode, make sure everything else is off. Then go to a/c mode. Then turn on other things and see what happens. Your generator should shut down if it becomes overloaded. Good luck.

I am looking to find a generator at a good price.  I am thinking that there may be a “Black Friday” type sale at some point.  I have seen that some of you have been able to do it with a 2K genny.  That is the direction I think I will go in.

I did a lot of research, read reviews, compared prices, ect., before making a decision. Price is a Hugh factor, but other factors override price. I wanted a Honda, as I used a 6500is for my business. Great quality, easy to get parts ( not that I needed any), very quite, and over 1200 hours without a hiccup!

I decided on a DuroMax 2k. Only 47 lbs, 61db for $399 delivered. So far it has been great. I figure I can buy 2 1/2 of these for the price of the Honda. I ordered it from    generatorfactoryoutlet.com  . I used Royal Purple Synthetic oil, ran it 5-6 hours for break in, changed the oil(very easy), and it’s good to go. We don’t run our a/c very much due to our kind of camping (mostly Spring and Fall, generally at higher elevations) so this fits our needs. To date I am very pleased with my purchase, but time will tell.

Good luck!
